It was 2001, I was 35 and a stay-at-home dad…
of two boys, 3 and 1. Having moved from NYC just a few years prior, we called a Jersey suburb, home.
Professionally up to that point, I had a couple of brushes with success but nothing worth mentioning. I had written a few songs and made demos but never landed anywhere creatively as an artist. I was just a singer down with OPP (other people’s projects). At 35, I thought, well, I had my chance.
But then…no, there wasn’t a big dramatic ‘a ha’ moment or spark that ignited something inside me, I just felt like I needed to do something for me, my boys and my family and say ‘hey, I made this.’
I dusted off a few songs, wrote a handful more, chose an unexpected cover (Barbra Streisand’s ‘Prisoner’) and decided I was going to record an album. I travelled to NYC twice a month for year and released my debut album ‘What A Man Can Do’ in the summer of 2002.
It was truly a great experience and I’m so grateful for having the opportunity to record it. World-class musicians, amazing vocalists and expert production went into the making of this little independent album. I hope you enjoy it.
